Event raises funds for new Center for Dementia and Alzheimer's Care
St. Paul, Minn. - Regions Hospital Foundation hosted the 19th Annual Wine Auction last Saturday benefiting the creation of a new Center for Dementia and Alzheimer's Care. Nearly 1,000 business and community leaders gathered for an evening of wine, elegant food, live music, socializing, and live and silent auctions. Regions Hospital Foundation raised over $615,000, surpassing its fundraising goal.
Recent statistics reveal that approximately five million Americans suffer from Alzheimer's disease, and 50 percent of seniors over the age of 85 are living with this devastating illness. Regions Hospital recognizes the importance in making an early diagnosis so crisis-oriented management and limited treatment options can be avoided.
While Regions Hospital and HealthPartners Neuroscience departments are leaders in providing excellent care for patients with dementia, the new Center for Dementia and Alzheimer's Care will offer more comprehensive outpatient care, hospitalization and post-treatment care, access to research trials, and will better address long-term issues around the care of dementia patients.
