Regions Hospital among nation's 'Highest Value' hospitals
Survey shows Regions patients receive top pneumonia and heart disease care
ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Leapfrog Group, a national organization responsible for measuring and reporting the quality and safety of hospitals, today announced that Regions Hospital is among 13 hospitals in the nation that provide the highest value for patients. The hospitals earned the "highest value" distinction based on how well and how efficiently they treat patients for pneumonia and heart disease (heart bypass surgery, procedures to unclog blocked arteries and treatment of heart attack).
In selecting the highest value hospitals, Leapfrog reviewed more than 1,220 hospitals that participate in the annual Leapfrog Hospital Survey. Hospitals were scored on a combination of quality and resource utilization measures. The Leapfrog Group is the first national quality organization to evaluate and identify hospitals providing excellent quality and at the same time demonstrating an appropriate use of resources for specific procedures.
The Highest Value Hospital Awards will be presented at the Leapfrog Annual Meeting, Palomar Hotel, Washington, D.C., Dec. 12. For more information, go to www.leapfroggroup.org.
Regions Hospital has received other national recognition for its heart and stroke care. Regions was given the Silver Performance Achievement Award from the American Stroke Association and the American Heart Association and was named one of the nations top 100 hospitals for heart care by Thomson Reuters.
