Adult Volunteer Opportunities
Alzheimer Research Lab
Sporadic opportunities arranged with researchers assist with lab projects. Volunteers must have at least two years of post secondary level science courses to qualify for program. Limited availability. Shifts only available during weekday business hours.
Breast Health Care Center
Welcome visitors to the Breast Health Care Center. Assist staff with patients, charts and clerical work. Assist with providing direction for patients coming in for various procedures (mammograms, ultrasound). This position is best suited for female volunteers. Shifts available during weekday business hours.
Burn Unit
Provide orientation to the unit for families and guests of patients. Answer call lights and assist with phones/clerical work. Visit and provide companionship to patients. Must be comfortable entering patient rooms. Shifts only available weekday evenings.
Cancer Care Center
Assist patients and guests with becoming familiar with Cancer Care Center environment and resources. Visit with patients receiving infusion treatment. Shifts only available during weekday business hours.
Clerical Volunteer
Assist with clerical duties including data entry, mailings and some phone work. Shifts only available during weekday business hours. Some positions will require a secondary interview.
Emergency Center
Act as a welcoming presence to patients, families and guests of the Emergency Center. Assist staff with patient needs including rooming and transport. Act as a liasion between staff and guests in the waiting area.
Flower Delivery
Deliver flowers to patient rooms. Position generally paired with Guest Experience Greeter position. Shifts only available during weekday business hours.
Gift Shop
Assist customers, run cash register and assist with displays in the Bright Corner Gift Shop. Help with stocking and pricing of merchandise.
Guest Experience Greeter
Provide a welcoming presence to our visitors and guests at our information desks. Assist with escort and transport of patients/visitors. Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time. Flexible scheduling.
Health Resource Center/Medical Library
Welcome visitors and assist with finding materials. Assist with check out and re-shelving of materials. Shifts only available during weekday business hours.
Materials Management
Deliver supplies from stockroom to hospital departments.
Morning Newspaper Cart
Deliver complementary newspapers and beverages to patient rooms. Shifts only availble weekday mornings.
Music Volunteer
Play soothing music for patients and guests on piano or instrument in our atrium area. Intermediate to advanced level of student recommended. Informal audition required. Flexible scheduling.
Overlook Cafe
Assist staff with food preparation. Help maintain clean and organized shelves and waiting area. Day, evening, and weekend shifts available.
Patient Visitor Cart
Offer complementary books, magazines and playing cards to patients. Play cards or read to patients requesting companionship. Must be comfortable entering patient rooms. Flexible scheduling.
Physical Therapy
Transport patients scheduled for therapy. Run errands at direction of staff. Shifts only available daytime hours, Monday through Saturday.
S9 Nursing Unit Volunteer
Stock supplies in patient rooms. Provide companionship to patients. Round regularly to meet patient needs. Shift only available weekday business hours.
