Phases of Treatment

Because research shows that longer chemical dependency programs are more successful, we've designed a thorough, extensive outpatient program which incorporates different levels of care, including:

Initial Assessment

The first step of our treatment program is assessment. Our staff meet with the adolescent and one or both parents to determine the extent of chemical use, address problems and begin to develop a plan. Assessments are scheduled during daytime and evening hours.

On-Going Evaluation (Phase I)

This phase consists of an in-depth, outpatient diagnostic evaluation, as needed. A complete multi-generational family history is taken and family involvement is key. Each adolescent participates in individual, group and peer counseling and attends school onsite.

This extensive evaluation of the important areas in the teen's life results in the development of a customized treatment plan. Weekly multifamily group sessions are introduced in this phase, and continue throughout the entire program. Family involvement is integral to the treatment process.

Primary Outpatient Treatment (Phase II)

Primary outpatient treatment meets for a full day, Monday through Friday for about four weeks. It includes lectures, group discussions, and individual and family counseling sessions. The primary focus of the activities is to teach healthy decision-making skills. To further support the interruption of old behaviors and the practice of healthier behaviors, clients continue to attend school onsite for two and one-half hours each day. Students are tutored at their own level by a certified high school teacher. The multifamily group sessions continue in this phase.

Continued Outpatient Treatment (Phase III)

The continued outpatient treatment phase is designed to help adolescents reenter their school with continued attention to their recovery issues. This phase offers after school group counseling sessions. It meets one time per week for about five weeks, depending on individual needs. In addition, weekly multifamily group sessions continue in this phase.

Individual Chemical Health Counseling

Individual chemical health counseling is offered for adolescents who don't need a structured treatment program, but would benefit from individual counseling sessions to deal with specific issues. During counseling, each adolescent must sign an agreement to abstain from alcohol or drugs for a designated period of time.
