Level I Trauma Center

What is Trauma Care?
Trauma pat 3Trauma services are specialized services within an emergency center. When an adult or child with a serious injury arrives, a special team of highly skilled medical professionals cares for the patient. Examples of trauma injuries are injuries that are caused by car crashes, falls and fires. As a Level I trauma center, verified by the American College of Surgeons, we have the expertise to care for these critically injured adult and pediatric patients.

Comprehensive, 24-hour Care
Because trauma care is provided around-the-clock, you can feel confident that all your health care needs will be met. By having our trauma surgeons and specialists in the hospital 24 hours a day, we are equipped to handle any trauma or other surgical patient. Through prompt evaluation, life-threatening injuries are identified and treated immediately under the direction of a trauma surgeon. Our trauma team will continue to provide for your care with the help of other health care professionals as needed.

Quick Access to Specialists
NeuroA wide range of specialty services are available through Regions Hospital to support the trauma program. More than 900 physicians from throughout the community practice here in more than 35 specialties and subspecialties. There are physicians in medical specialties, such as orthopaedics, neurosurgery, pediatrics, plastic surgery and cardiology, that provide comprehensive care for nearly any trauma-related injury.

Family Support
Traumatic injuries can be very stressful for both the patient and family members. We offer private waiting rooms in the Emergency Center and family members are kept updated and informed about the patient's status.

Regions Hospital also offers a Crisis Program to help patients and families handle the stress and emotional crises related to traumatic injuries. Our highly skilled social workers and chaplains are available 24 hours a day. The Emergency Center patient representatives or nurse can assist families in contacting the Crisis Program.
