Ancker School of Nursing Memorial Scholarship Update on Ancker Hospital School of Nursing Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship, established by Anna Fuhrmann, Class of 1962, has been tremendously successful. So far nearly $7,500 has been contributed. In July, the reunion planning committee decided to split the money into two funds. One fund with approximately $2,500 will be awarded next spring to our first scholarship recipients. We will work with Cathy McCallister in Nursing Administration to develop the application guidelines. The remainder $5,000 will be used to start an endowment, which will create an income stream to fund nursing scholarships into the future. For the endowment to be fully funded, it must reach $25,000. Since only the interest is used, this will ensure it generates an adequate return every year to fund a scholarship. Once the $25,000 endowment is fully funded, it will generate approximately $1,250 per year to be awarded as a scholarship. Also, an endowment preserves the principal so awards can be made every year, which creates a wonderful tribute to the Ancker School of Nursing and its graduates.
