  | Radiation Therapy
With the addition of on-site radiation therapy, we offer complete, integrated and multidisciplinary care. Our highly-trained radiation therapy staff uses state-of-the-art equipment to provide customized treatment for each patient. Radiation Therapy services are provided through a partnership between Regions Hospital and Minneapolis Radiation Oncology, P.A.
The department is staffed with experienced medical physicists, dosimetrists and radiation therapists who work closely with the radiation oncologist to ensure the highest quality care. In addition, an oncology-certified radiation therapy nurse is available to follow patients through their course of treatment.
What is radiation therapy?
Radiation therapy is the use of high energy rays to damage cancer cells and stop them from growing. Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) is offered at our facility and represents an advance in radiation therapy. The accuracy of the IMRT beam has several vital advantages for cancer patients, the most significant being its ability to maximize the dose of radiation to the tumor while substantially reducing risk to healthy tissues. In addition, the department has a CT/simulator, and a state-of-the-art 3D treatment planning system.
The side effects of radiation can often times be treated and controlled. It is important to review the potential side effects with your doctor prior to treatment.
Location and Parking
The Radiation Therapy Deparment is located on the second floor of the East Section of Regions Hospital. Patients will receive a free parking card that can be used to access the reserved parking spaces near the entrance to Radiation Therapy.
