Regions Hospital Announces Opening of New Outpatient Behavioral Health Service
Program serves patients with both mental and chemical health concerns

St. Paul, Minn., - Regions Hospital has begun a new dual diagnostic outpatient program, one of the few in the Twin Cities metropolitan area, to provide integrated chemical health and mental health services for individuals who have both conditions.

"Many individuals struggle with both mental health and substance abuse situations at the same time," said manager Charlie Mishek of Regions Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program. "Treatment plans that simultaneously coordinate treatment for all of the behavioral health concerns are more effective than treating them separately.".

"The focus of Regions' dual diagnostic program is to help clients develop and implement their own plan for successful living with their mental and chemical health conditions," said Mishek. "We will encourage and motivate our clients by teaching various relapse prevention techniques and supporting them as they develop their individual plans.".

Regions' new dual diagnostic outpatient program is available at Regions' primary Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program (ADAP) clinic in St. Paul. The program provides a range of services including psychological evaluations, medication monitoring, group meetings and individual counseling under the direction of licensed alcohol and drug counselors and mental health professionals. Prospective clients complete an evaluation process and an individualized treatment plan is developed. .

Regions Hospital provides comprehensive behavioral health services, including alcohol and chemical dependency treatment, outpatient (clinic-based) mental health treatment and inpatient (hospital-based) mental health services. The Regions' team includes psychiatrists, psychotherapists, nurses and other behavioral health professionals. In addition, Regions conducts a behavioral health residency program for medical professionals and a psychopharmacology research program.
