May 18, 2005 Leading heart surgeons join HealthPartners Medical Group Bloomington, Minn., May 18, 2005 - Three of the area's top heart surgeons have joined HealthPartners Medical Group. Drs. David Blake, Robert Emery, and Arlen Holter have more than 20 years of experience each specializing in adult cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery. They will join the medical staff at Regions Hospital and continue on the medical staffs of St. Josephs and United hospitals in St. Paul and Abbott Northwestern Hospital and Fairview Hospitals in Minneapolis. All were previously in private practice in the Twin Cities. "We are extremely pleased with the addition of Drs. Blake, Emery and Holter to our medical group," said David Dries, M.D., assistant medical director of surgical care for HPMG. "Their knowledge, skills and experience adds another dimension to the talented group of surgical specialists already on staff with HealthPartners Medical Group." Dr. Jim Morrison, medical director, cardiology, HPMG, echoed Dr. Dries: "These three surgeons are a welcome addition to the cardiac care services in the HealthPartners family." Dr. Blake received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota. He completed a surgical internship at Hennepin County Medical Center and surgical residencies at HCMC and the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He is board certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of Surgery, and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Emery received his medical degree from Tufts University Medical School in Boston. He completed his internship and residency training at the University of Minnesota Hospitals. In addition, he served as senior resident and chief resident in the division of cardiothoracic surgery at Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston. He is board certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of Surgery, and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Holter graduated from the University of Chicago School of Medicine. He received additional training at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and Southampton Western Hospital Southampton, England. He is board certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of Surgery, and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
