Regions Burn Center patient hosts celebrity fishing tournament

St. Paul, Minn., – Former Regions Hospital Burn Center patient Mark Tipler will host the fourth annual celebrity bass fishing tournament on Wednesday, Aug. 23.

This year's event will be held on Lake Minnetonka at Lord Fletcher's Old Lake Lodge in Spring Park, Minn. Fishing will start at 8 a.m. There will be 60 teams consisting of one pro-angler and two 'co-anglers' (a sponsor and possible celebrity)fishing as a team.Teams will fish for approximately six hours with the hopes of landing the greatest total weight of six bass.At 2 p.m. boats will dock, fish will be weighed and then released back into water.

The entry fee for the event is $500, which covers meals and prize registration. All proceeds benefit the Burn Center at Regions Hospital. Space is limited and anyone interested in the event must respond by Tuesday, Aug 11. Tipler became trapped in his parents home during a fire his senior year of high school. With the help of his brother he made it out of the house, but suffered third degree burns over 80 percent of his body. Defying the odds, Tipler survived surgeries and a long recovery at the Burn Center at Regions.
