 | Nurse Managers
Julie, RN, nurse manager, 8E (Oncology), was voted Regions "Pro of the Month" in 2005 by her staff. Julie started working at Regions in 1989 as a nursing assistant on a surgical floor. She became inspired to become a nurse when she saw how nurses truly affect patients' lives every day. "I felt that being a nurse was so rewarding and meaningful, and I knew I needed to be a part of this."
After Julie graduated with her nursing degree, she continued to work on the same unit, only now she was an RN. "I loved my job and learned so much from my coworkers."
In July 1995, Julie got married and moved to Oregon. When she told her manager, Nancy, of her plans she began to cry. "I was so sad to leave her and my coworkers at Regions."
Fortunately, Julie returned to St. Paul and took a job as an RN on 8E, the oncology unit. She soon grew to love the work of an oncology nurse. "I gain a tremendous amount of inspiration from the patients who are fighting cancer." Julie moved into a clinical educator role on this unit, where she loved working and mentoring new nurses.
Next, Julie became the assistant nurse manager, and in 1999, she became the manager of the oncology unit. "I love the work I do at Regions. One of the reasons I stay here is because of all of my wonderful colleagues. I feel very fortunate to work here."
