Some interesting information excerpted from the book Ancker Memories 1891-1976 and various Ancker School of Nursing brochures are shown below:
The student nurse of today learns to:
- Give intelligent complete nursing care (spiritual, sociological, psychological, and physical) and promotes positive health for the individual the family, and the community.
- Work effectively with others and participate in civic and extra curricular activities productively.
- Evaluate her progress and continue to grow in order to provide a solid foundation for personal and professional development.
Student Welfare Policies
- Weights are recorded monthly. Any deviation from the normal is given necessary attention.
- Ten days sick leave are allowed in the three-year period. All sick leave over 10 days must be made up.
Social-Cultural Opportunities
A full-time social director helps plan students activities. Some of the activities are class dances, a Junior-Senior banquet and prom, teas, basketball team and glee club.

Prerequisites for admission ot Ancker Hospital Training School for Nurses (year unknown):
- Desirable age: 18-30 years
- Must be of average height and physique, of good moral character, and a graduate of an accredited high school
- All students have to live in the dormitory
- No married students allowed unless widowed
- All students need to buy 3 dresses and 9 aprons which cost $20.75
- Must provide transportation home in case of failure to meet requirements of the preliminary term
