Clinical educatorsContinuous staff development is a critical element of providing excellence in nursing care. To ensure nurses have the educational opportunities, skills, and competencies Clinical Nurse Educators (CEs) are positioned on nearly all of our nursing units/departments. Our CEs provide support and resources in the areas of clinical expertise, education, staff development and nursing practice for the nursing staff in their area.

  • Being a resource and coordinating the clinical orientation of new nursing staff
  • Precepting new nurses or aligning and assigning a designated preceptor to new nurses
  • Leading the professional development of unit preceptors
  • Assisting new graduate nurses to identify a nurse mentor
  • Monitoring and evaluating clinical orientation and completion of clinical competencies
  • Ensuring nursing staff on the unit maintain clinical competencies and complete education
  • Developing and / or providing education for nursing staff to meet the patient care needs of their unit
  • Auditing for quality improvement
  • Many clinical educators teach nurses throughout the organization and with TCHP
