  | Regions Hospital Named Best Hospital Workplace
Regions Hospital received the Best Minnesota Hospital Workplace Award for 2004 at the Minnesota Hospital Association's awards banquet on Friday, January 14. Regions won the large hospital category.
Among the criteria for the Best Minnesota Hospital Workplace Award, Regions had to demonstrate its retention strategy by showing creativity, scope and implementation. Regions has seen a significant decline in employee turnover since 2002.
"This award reflects the hard work done at Regions by staff and leaders over the past couple of years to emphasize respect and create awareness about healthy behaviors, which influence patient care," says Dave Graebner, vice president of operations. "Creating a healthy workplace is a collaborative effort that takes all staff, at all levels. Talking about positive and negative behaviors helps us raise the bar within the hospital to provide the best care and best experience to each patient and his or her family."
Graebner says this work is only the beginning of Regions' journey. It is critical because a positive experience for employees will more likely result in a positive experience for Regions' patients.
The award honors hospitals that go the extra mile in enhancing employee satisfaction and show how employee work satisfaction has benefited from improvements that have been made.
