 | Outpatient Observation Unit with Telemetry (5 West)
This 15-bed patient area is designated as a short-stay outpatient observation unit. The unit serves two populations. The first group includes medical/surgical patients who are evaluated and/or treated within six-plus to 24 hours and are expected to be discharged within that timeframe. The second group includes low-risk chest pain patients who need to be monitored. These patients tend to have an average length of stay of 2.5 days. Nurses on this unit are telemetry trained and also have the ability to care for bi-pap (Bi-level Positive Airway Pressure) patients.
