 | Postpartum and Mother / Baby (2CM)
Nurses on this unit deliver care to postpartum maternity patients and their healthy newborns. The unit features 22 private rooms and a fully staffed, 18-bed newborn nursery. Infants requiring nursing care beyond the Level 1 category are admitted to the Special Care Nursery at Regions.
The nursing staff provides total patient care to their patients with a special emphasis on patient and family; mothers are encouraged to keep their newborn infants with them in their room as much as possible. Nurses provide family education in parenting skills and adaptation to the evolving family unit. Lactation consultants are available seven days per week to offer support to breastfeeding patients - - both inpatient and outpatient.
