  | Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is the treatment of cancer with drugs that can destroy cancer cells and keep them from growing and multiplying. Sometimes your doctor may use two or more anti-cancer drugs at one time to treat the cancer.
Which types of anti-cancer drugs you receive depend on the following:
- What kind of cancer you have
- The part of your body where the cancer is found
- Your overall health
- Effects of the cancer on your normal body functions
The frequency and length of chemotherapy depends on several factors:
- The type of cancer you have
- The goals of the treatment
- The anti-cancer drugs used
- How you respond to treatment
Side Effects
Dealing with the side effects of chemotherapy may be difficult. The side effects and their severity will depend on the type of chemotherapy you receive and your bodys reaction to it. Its important that you talk with your doctor before receiving any treatments so you know what to expect and how to lessen the side effects.
