Description and Objectives
Burn & Wound Care Today is avaluable program for primary care physicians, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other interested health professionals who encounter patients with complex wounds and burn injuries. At the conclusion of this conference, the participant will be able to:
- Describe initial assessment and management considerations for the burn patient;
- Discuss controversies surrouding scar control;
- Summarize appropriate therapies in treating chemical burns and necrotizing fasciitis;
- Summarize the risks to health care providers and injury patterns associated with methamphetamine production;
- Discuss therapautic interventions to prevent or minimize reconstruction in the burn patient;
- Discuss current management concepts related to wound care and wound healing;
- Review the significance of tight gluclose control for diabetic patients in facilitating wound healing;
- Discuss the medical and mechanical management of the charcot foot
Focus
Burn and Wound Care Today is a clinical briefing that will provide information on current procedures for accurate assessment and appropriate management of patients with burn and wound injuries. The preconference workshop features a hands-on approach to learning. The conference format includes lectures, case discussions and break-out sessions.
