Employees regularly scheduled to work at least 40 hours every two-week pay period are eligible for health coverage. For 2012, we offer three medical plan options — HealthPartners First Plan, HealthPartners Empower Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) Plan and the HealthPartners Health Savings Account (HSA) Plan. Coverage is effective the first day of the month following hire date. Temporary employees and employees working fewer than 40 hours per pay period are not eligible.

Your personal time off
Employees can earn PTO (paid time off) if they are a regular employee working at least 40 hours every two weeks. Paid time off can be used for vacation, illness, holidays, family need or personal business.
For purposes of pay and time off, Regions recognizes the following days as holidays:
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
Leave of absence
Employees may be eligible for medical, personal, adoptive, maternity and paternity leaves. Union employees will need to refer to union contract.
Health care & dependent care spending accounts
Regular employees working 40–80 hours per pay period are eligible for this benefit. Spending accounts (health care and/or dependent care) allow you to pay for certain health, dental or dependent care expenses you incur such as eyeglasses, orthodontia or day care on a pre-tax basis. As a result of your participation, your taxable income is decreased.
Retirement Savings Plus Plan
Employees must be a Plan Participant (definition of a participant: Completing one year of service, working 1,000 hours and at least 21 years of age). After meeting these requirements, employee is automatically enrolled into the Regions Hospital Retirement Savings Plus Plan.
Regions Hospital will contribute 4 percent of your total pre-tax earnings every year that you work at least 1,000 hours. You are 100 percent vested in the base contribution after three years of service and have worked 1,000 hours each year.
The Regions Hospital 403(b) plan is a pre-tax, tax-deferred payroll deduction retirement savings program. All employees may enroll in this program immediately after employment date. You set the amount (flat dollar or percentage) you want to contribute. All contributions are vested immediately.
Regions Hospital Retirement Savings Plus Plan participants who also participate in the 403(b) plan will receive a matching contribution to their retirement account. Regions Hospital will match $.50 for every $1 you invest up to a maximum of 2 percent of your total compensation. You are immediately 100 percent vested and own the account balance of the match contribution.
Tuition reimbursement & educational opportunities
Employees who have passed probation and are scheduled to work 40 hours or more every two-week pay period are eligible. Employees may receive up to $2,000 annually if course enhances quality of work in present or future position within Regions Hospital. Union employees will need to refer to bargaining unit contract.
Scholarship programs for education include The Diversity Council Scholarship, Gloria Fox RN Nursing Scholarship, Daniel Gaither Careers in Health Care and Dr. John and Doris Simestad Scholarship Fund.
Continuing education classes are offered to Regions employees through TCHP Education Consortium at nominal or no fee.
Employee health & wellness
As a HealthPartners member, you are eligible to participate in the Frequent Fitness program through HealthPartners. Work out 12 times or more a month and you’ll save $20 each month on your health club membership. A few of the participating clubs include: Anytime Fitness, Curves, LA Fitness, LifeTime Fitness, YMCA and YWCA.
Health education classes & services
Employees of Regions Hospital may take advantage of a vast array of services offered to HealthPartners members for a nominal fee. More than 40 classes offered in areas such as overall fitness, self-esteem, back pain management, mindfulness mediation and women’s health. Additionally, our Health Resource Center sponsors occasional classes such as Yoga Motion and Weight Watchers. Employees also benefit from our Health Benefits program and annual health fair.
Use your HealthPartners ID card to get discounts at more than 40 popular local and national retailers of health and wellness products and services. Participating retailers include: eyewear, fitness and wellness classes, healthy eating programs and delivery services, recreational equipment, spa equipment, swim lessons and more.
Regions employees as well as their dependents can receive a 20 percent discount on the purchase of prescription glasses at Regions Optical Shop.
Employee Assistance Program
Available for all employees. This program is a confidential short-term assessment, counseling and referral service offered through Sand Creek Group, LTD.
Other employee benefits
You can receive discounts on a variety of products and services offered through HealthPartners such as bike helmets, community resources, walking programs, exercise equipment, gun trigger locks and self-care books.
Employee discounts to community businesses
As an employee of Regions Hospital, you have access to MERSC (Minnesota Employee Recreation and Services Council). MERSC offers discounts, coupons and tickets for many things. Examples include hotels, bikes, waterslides, amusement parks and cars.
As a Regions Hospital employee, you and your family are eligible to join the City and County Employees Credit Union.
Employees are recognized for their commitment and dedication to the organization in a variety of ways including ice cream socials, coupons and gift cards, etc.
Owner of the Month
A program through which hospital, clinic and foundation staff members are recognized by their co-workers for exemplary service. Benefits include a free parking spot on campus for a month, engraved plaque, recognition by Regions President and CEO Brock Nelson with a ceremony in their department, a gift certificate, and recognition in our employee newsletter and on our e-messaging systems located throughout the hospital.
