Daniel J. Schneider, MD
- Practicing Specialty: Hematology, Oncology, Oncology & Hematology
I am a board certified Medical Oncologist for the HealthPartners Medical Group. Originally from Illinois, I received my medical degree from Southern Illinois University and completed my hematology/oncology fellowship at Loyola University in Chicago.
Before beginning my medical training, I was unsure which specialty I would choose to pursue. After my first day of oncology, I knew this was where I should be. It is a unique opportunity to help guide someone through such an important time in his or her life. I enjoy interacting with my patients and realize the importance of excellent communication - and sometimes humor. Ultimately, there is always hope regardless of the circumstances, and with the remarkable advances in the treatment of cancer, the field becomes even more exciting and hopeful.
I have been active in clinical research and recognized for my leadership in the Minnesota Cooperative Group Outreach Program (CGOP). While I am interested in all cancer treatment, I particularly enjoy approaching therapy through clinical trials, a mechanism to further improve our knowledge and success rates. Additionally, I am a member of the Minnesota Society of Clinical Oncology (MSCO).
In addition to my clinical work and research, I have coordinated guidelines designed to improve the timely care of patients with lung cancer. This has increased my appreciation of the impact of planning and coordination on all types of cancer treatment.
Outside of work, I like to practice my culinary skills. I am also an avid runner, and travel frequently. My three children, nearly adults, keep me in the moment.
