I grew up in a small town in southwestern Minnesota. My father is a pharmacist and was an EMT and because of him, I developed an interest in medicine.
After graduating high school, I moved to the Twin Cities to attend the University of Minnesota, where I completed my Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology in 2001. From there, I attended the Physician Assistant Program at Des Moines University, Des Moines, IA, where I received my Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies in 2004.
I began my practice in November of 2004 at Regions Hospital Emergency Department. While there, I worked closely with attending physicians, resident physicians, other physician assistants, and many consulting services. I cared for a wide variety of patients, from the more seriously ill or injured patients, to those with more minor illness. I performed multiple different types of procedures, prescribed medications, ordered and interpreted laboratory and diagnostic studies.
In April of 2010, I left the Emergency Department to pursue a different course in my career and have been employed with Regions Cancer Care Center since that time. I will be working closely with the Oncologists, seeing their patients in follow up and taking care of patients that walk in with more acute illnesses and do not have a scheduled appointment. I will also be performing the majority of the bone marrow biopsies and seeing patients in our Survivorship Clinic.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, reading, walking my dog, playing co-ed softball and broomball, listening to music, and singing karaoke.
