- Genetic Counselor
Beginning with my high school genetics unit in biology, I was hooked on genetics. As a genetic counselor, I assess family histories of cancer to help determine cancer risks and if genetic testing is appropriate. I also help patients understand the pros and cons of cancer genetic testing so they can make a decision that is right for them, and I counsel patients on the screening options available to them with consideration of the family history. Cancer genetics is a rapidly changing, fascinating field.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, camping, water sports, cross country skiing and traveling with my family.
I am a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) and the Minnesota Genetic Counselors Association (MNGCA).
