It's a rewarding experience being able to help someone in a time of urgent and usually unanticipated need. I try to not only function as a patient's health care provider, but a liaison to help bridge care in what may feel like an overwhelming system. I enjoy working with families, especially pediatric patients, and helping patients understand their conditions and the tests they are undergoing so we can improve their outcomes and recovery.
I also have a passion for learning about other cultures, in part related to my traveling. I speak Spanish and was raised with my deaf grandparents. In the past, I managed a refugee screening clinic, and today I continue to moonlight at a local community clinic.
Outside of work, I revel in spending time with family, especially outdoor activities like hiking, snowboarding, running and camping. I also love to travel.
I am currently the Public Relations Chair for the Minnesota Academy of Physician Assistants (MAPA) and a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA).
