Cardiovascular research

Taking part in cardiovascular research helps Regions Hospital Heart Center provide you with the most innovative, state-of-the-art testing and treatment. Our doctors and staff conduct their own research, and take part in nationally sponsored studies that include other healthcare facilities.

One example is our team’s research on implanting pacemakers and defibrillators while keeping patients on the drug warfarin. This has been recognized by the American Heart Association, which invited our team to present its findings at a national meeting. The study was published in the Heart Rhythm Journal, and will be a resource for physicians worldwide. Other original research by the Regions cardiology team has appeared in the Journal of Heart Valve Disease, the Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Heart International and the Journal of Interventional Cardiac Electrophysiology.

Regions Hospital Heart Center also enrolls patients in sponsored multi-center studies of new ways to treat cardiac conditions such as acute coronary syndromes, systolic and diastolic heart failure, atrial fibrillation and implantable cardiac devices.

Our cardiology research program works with the HealthPartners Research Foundation, which is known for its strong work to improve cardiovascular health.
