Orthopaedic medicine deals with bone injuries and diseases. If you have a bone-related problem, your orthopaedic team will help you get moving again. They’re experts at teaching you how to prevent injuries and helping you heal if something happens. We have programs for all ages and all types of conditions, from sports medicine to joint replacement, so you’re sure to find the help you need to keep moving.

Orthopaedic trauma
We’re experts at treating muscle and bone injuries—from torn ligaments to broken bones. With a world-class reputation and trauma care for both adult and pediatric patients, you can count on the Regions Hospital team when timing is everything. Learn more.

Sports medicine
Our Sports Medicine Program is a comprehensive whole-athlete approach to care. It draws on the musculoskeletal skills of our specialty-trained orthopaedic providers and gives you seamless access to a full spectrum of services across the HealthPartners family of care. Learn more.
Foot & ankle
Specialists trained in either orthopaedics or podiatry will work with you to understand and treat foot and ankle conditions.
Upper extremity
Our comprehensive approach to treating elbow, hand and wrist problems includes specialists from orthopaedics and plastic surgery.

Your team
Your orthopaedic team may come from several different departments. They’ll all work together to give you the best care possible.
Orthopaedic surgeon – focuses on bone surgery including repair of fractures, joint replacement, joint surgery and spinal surgery.
Non-operative orthopaedic specialist – focuses on the treatment for orthopaedic injuries that don’t require surgery. Some have specialized training in treating sports-related injuries (Sports Medicine).
Sports medicine specialist – focuses on nonsurgical treatments for sports injuries.
Advanced practice provider (APP) – a health care professional with a master’s or doctoral degree. Includes physician assistants (PAs) and nurse practitioners (NPs). Works under the supervision of a doctor in both clinic and operating room.
Physical therapist (PT) – helps patients increase strength, balance, coordination and endurance.
Athletic trainer (AT) – assists in taking patient histories, performing evaluations, and providing instruction on exercise, rehabilitation and patient education.
