I chose to work in behavioral health because I enjoy helping people learn new things about themselves and make changes to improve their lives, self-esteem and relationships. I like the opportunity to be affirming and focus on people's strengths and abilities as well as to help them understand how family dynamics impact them in both positive and negative ways. I utilize both cognitive and dialectical behavior strategies and skill building in much of my work with people. My goal is to help instill a sense of hope and possibility for people.

I am fluent in American Sign Language and have worked with deaf, deaf-blind and hard of hearing people since 1976. As a person of faith, I believe that issues of faith are important in our healing process, and I encourage patients to focus on mind, body and spiritual issues. I love to laugh and try to find and add humor into situations when appropriate.

In my free time, I enjoy many outdoor activities, including walking, running, biking, gardening, birdwatching, skiing, photography and traveling. Sometimes my travels have included mission trips, such as visits to Kosovo where I made friends with the deaf community.

During quieter moments, I enjoy reading and am an avid knitter and crocheter, rarely sitting down without a project at hand. I also enjoy watching Public Television (TPT), especially Masterpiece, and any of the BBC dramas or mystery series.
