Gary D. Bowrey, PA-C
- Practicing Department: Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology
- Physician Assistant
I chose to work in hospital medicine because I was looking for the greatest challenge I could find; I wanted to work with many patients with many different medical problems. Hospital medicine provides me with that challenge. It also provides great rewards. I enjoy the patient interactions and the camaraderie I have with the physicians and nurses in the hospitalist group, as well as the interactions I have with the specialists and other support teams in the hospital.
Originally from Iowa, I graduated from the University of Iowa with a journalism degree and biology minor. I worked in IT at a local clinic before attending Augsburg College to obtain my physician assistant degree. It was that experience working in the clinic that motivated me to get into patient care.
During my free time, I enjoy running, biking, hiking, camping and most things outdoors. I also like spending time with my children, watching them grow up.
I am a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM), on the NP/PA Committee. I am the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) lead of the hospitalist group.
