What you can expect

You’ll typically meet with a spine specialist on your first visit to Regions. You’ll discuss your health history, and you’ll have a chance to ask any questions you have.

Together, you and your doctor will create a personal treatment plan. It may include non-surgical care, or surgery might be the best option for relief.

Non-surgical care

Often, medication or physical therapy can solve your spine problem. This plan of care might be recommended if you have:

  • Pain in your back and/or neck
  • A sudden or ongoing spine problem
  • A degenerative back or neck condition

Spine surgeries

If surgery is recommended, you’re in excellent hands. Our surgical specialists are skilled in all types of spine surgery, from minimally invasive procedures to complex surgeries.

You may be referred to a spine surgeon if you have one of these conditions:

  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Disc rupture
  • Scoliosis
  • Spinal cord tumors
  • Spinal deformity
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Spinal vascular disorders
  • Spine trauma and spinal cord injury
  • Vertebral compression fractures

If you need surgery, we make sure you have right info, including preparing for surgery and answering your questions.

After surgery, your recovery is our first priority. If needed, you’ll regain mobility with the help of our onsite rehabilitation facility and outpatient clinics so you can return home. Information on preparing to go home is helpful, too.
