Expert, specialized care for your child’s most complex injuries

If your child is injured, come to the emergency department. Our pediatric trauma team will assess and treat them as quickly as possible. The Regions Hospital emergency department includes our Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center.

Level 1 means we can care for your child’s most serious injuries. We partner with Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare which is located within Regions. You’ll have experts in both trauma and pediatrics caring for your child 24/7. From treatment to rehabilitation, you’ll child will received expert care, all in one place.

What you can expect

Your child’s care starts in the Regions emergency department. From there, you might hear that your child is being transferred to Gillette. You don’t have to go to a different location. Gillette is our pediatric hospital, located within Regions in the north section, on the fourth floor. View a hospital map.

Any pediatric trauma surgeons and specialists who cared for your child in emergency will continue to care for them at Gillette. As your child recovers, they may need rehabilitation. Gillette’s pediatric rehabilitation services are world-renowned, so you can rest assured your child is in excellent hands.

We take care of your whole family

Our facilities are specifically designed for kids and families. Patient rooms feature amenities like gaming consoles. There’s an outdoor park for relaxing or playing. And when your child needs a test or procedure, our child life specialists will play with them, offer distraction and help ease any pain.

You’ll be a part of your child’s care team. We’re always here to answer your questions. And you’ll be able to stay close to your child. You can stay in their room. We also have a Ronald McDonald House. Or, there are plenty of nearby hotels.

Critical Care Research Center

We’re always looking at how we can make your care—and recovery—even better. That’s why our onsite center conducts clinical research in eight specialty areas, including emergency medicine, emergency medical services, intensive care and trauma.

We’re actively studying stroke, traumatic brain injuries, cardiac arrest resuscitation, deep venous thrombosis prevention and pain management.
